Jenny Itzcovitz, Deputy Editor of Sixtyplusurfers and Word Search

This week we were lucky to get the chance to interview Deputy Editor Jenny Itzcovitz from Sixtyplusurfers and Word Search.  Jenny is lovely to work with, very approachable and responsive to new ideas and suggestions. Here is what she has to say...

Sublime PR: What is your job title?

Jenny: Deputy Editor.

Sublime PR: What magazines do you write for?

Jenny: Sixtyplusurfers and Word Search.

Sublime PR: What is your PR pet peeve?

Jenny: I think PRs do a fantastic job and always provide us with interesting material, great competition prizes and pictures.  But a few peeves however, PDFs - i don't really like them and also getting lots of corrections after an article has been submitted.

Sublime PR: Do you prefer a phone pitch or email from PRs?

Jenny: I would prefer an email initially but I would say it is most helpful to chat on the phone.

Sublime PR: How many emails and or phone calls do you receive from PRs every day?

Jenny: A few hundred emails every day!  Only five or ten phone calls - so would like a few more phone calls to help cut down those emails!

Sublime PR: How do you read the news?

Jenny: Mainly TV and online.

Sublime PR: What newspapers and magazines do you read?

Jenny: Mainly the Metro and You Magazine and whatever is in the office!

Sublime PR: Are you a regular tweeter and can PRs contact you via Twitter?

Jenny: I tweet occasionally, and you can find me at www.twitter.com/jennyitz or www.twitter.com/Sixtyplusurfers and you can see the Sixtyplusurfers Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Sixtyplusurfers

Sublime PR: What is your top tip for for businesses/PRs wanting to get coverage?

Jenny: Have a look at our website, then call up and have a chat and we can discuss how we can work together.

Sublime PR: What is really grabbing your attention in the industry at the moment?

Jenny: Anything new, innovative, different and suitable for all ages.

Sublime PR: How important is a good image, video for a story?

Jenny: A good image is essential.  Two or three good images are ideal.  A video is good too, but not essential for me.

Sublime PR: What are your passions, interests and hobbies?

Jenny: I enjoy ballroom dancing and I go to classes; I like swimming, visiting art galleries and stately homes.  I like listening to music with my children and my favourite bands and music are McFly, Hanson, Elvis Costello, Kaiser Chiefs and Biffy Clyro.

Sublime PR: What is your overall impression of dealing with Sublime PR to date?

Jenny: It is a pleasure dealing with Natalie Sanderson at Sublime PR.  She is always very helpful and provides us with interesting articles and information for Sixtyplussurfers.
